The free result

What a free email leak check tells you

Most checkers stop at “your email was in a breach”. That is the least useful part. What you need is which password leaked, from where, and what else was in the same record, because that decides which accounts to fix first.

  • Which breaches, and when

Every known breach holding the address, with the service name and the date. The two sources are merged and duplicates removed, so a breach both of them hold is counted once.

  • The password itself

Where a breach stored a password next to your address, the free result shows the start of one of them. That is usually enough to recognize it, and to know which other accounts still use it.

  • What else was in the record

Names, phone numbers, home addresses, IP addresses, dates of birth. The fields differ by breach, and the result lists them so you can see what a stranger could piece together.

  • A privacy score

One number from 0 to 100. It starts at 100 and loses points for each leaked password, each kind of personal detail exposed, and each additional breach.

How it works

How the email hack check works

  1. You type an email address

The check looks for that exact address. It does not search by name, and on the website it is email only. The LeakNix app for iPhone and Android can also check phone numbers and usernames.

  2. Two breach indexes are queried

One indexes around 10 billion leaked records including infostealer logs, the other lists more than a thousand breached sites. Together they cover 500+ data sources, including the dark web markets and forums where stolen credentials are dumped and traded, and both are refreshed in real-time as new breaches surface.

  3. The results are merged

A breach present in both sources is counted once. Each entry keeps its name, its date and the list of fields it exposed, so the count you see is breaches, not duplicate rows.

  4. You see enough to decide

The free result tells you whether you have a problem and roughly how big it is. The full report lists every breach and every password in full, so you can go through your accounts one by one.

The scan

What the scan actually checks

No sign-up, no card, no software. Here is exactly what one scan reads and what it gives you back.

Free, and no account
The scan runs without registration, without a card and without installing anything. You type an address, you get the result.
Two sources, merged
Every scan reads two breach datasets holding billions of leaked records between them, then removes the breaches that appear in both so nothing is counted twice.
The password, not just the breach name
Breach records often store the password that sat next to the address. Where one exists, the result shows it, which is the difference between knowing you were in a leak and knowing what to change.
What else was exposed
Results list the other fields each breach held for you: names, phone numbers, addresses, IP data, so you can see how much of your identity is reconstructable.
